Purchasing PPGI & PPGL coils or sheets.

[edit] Introduction
Pre-Painted Galvanised Iron (PPGI) or pre-coated steel, colour coated steel etc, is made of galvanized steel and then coated with organic coatings. Normally this hot dip zinc coated steel substrate comes in different forms such as coils or sheets. Pre-painted galvalume steel (PPGL) is a colour-coated steel with galvalume steel as a substrate. It combines the strength of steel with excellent anti-corrosion of Zn-Al coating so performs better than PPGI in this regard, it also comes in different forms.
[edit] Quality
When purchasing a PPGI coil, attention needs to be paid to the quality of the base metal, the galvanized steel sheet, the zinc coating, the thickness, and also the coating types. Experienced manufacturers apply the coating on both sides of the steel coils to provide a high-quality, consistent finish in texture, performance, thickness, and colour. Third party inspections might also be advisable.
[edit] Safety
PPGI steel coils may have environmental benefits over general colour-coated coils that pre-painted galvanized steel coils offer to the manufacturing plants. They also eliminate various manufacturing imperfections, such as uneven applications of dirt residue and oil.
[edit] Versatility
One of the reasons some people are now using pre-painted steel coils is because of their versatility. It is a tried and tested product in the manufacturing industry. Any business involved in the production of metal roofing, automotive parts, beverage cans, garage doors, wall panels, HVAC ductwork, food service equipment, office furniture, and home appliances could switch to pre-painted steel coils.
[edit] Longevity
A PPGI steel coil manufacturer will highlight the longevity of pre-painted steel coils. Galvanized steel coils for different manufacturing processes ensure uniform treatment of metal parts with two coats of paint. This process provides a tight bond that not only enhances long-term durability but also resists corrosion. According to research studies, comparing pre-painted metal parts with raw metals treated in manufacturing plants - pre-painted steel coils provide a superior, corrosion-resistant product that outperforms metal product painted or treated in the plant.
The alloy of zinc and aluminium makes PPGL steel coils resistant to environmental damage, especially if used in coastal areas. Most importantly, aluminium creates a mechanical barrier from environmental impacts and prevents scratches on the steel sheet surfaces. Zinc keeps the coils safe by creating a protective compound for the coils' base steel layers.
